The funeral service to celebrate the life of Francis (Frank) Edward Doherty of Mornington Victoria, will be held in the Stratus Chapel, Bunurong Memorial Park (790 Frankston Dandenong Road Dandenong South), on Monday 12-09-2022 at 1pm.
Frank’s service will be live streamed for those who cannot be in attendance.
Details will also be found on the Bunurong Memorial Park website after 09-09-2022.

Always remember Mr Doherty’s smiling face everytime we were around the orchard and firmly being told we’re NOT to ride the horses but we did anyway. Memories of our growing up days with great neighbours (the Doherty,s )

‘Smiley’ by name and smiley by nature. Frank will be deeply missed by his wonderful family and by all who knew him. Lots of lovely memories from Tatura days remain and I’m so happy to have caught up with Frank again in recent years in Melbourne. He never changed; always kind, friendly and interested in what was happening in your life. Sending much love to all of the family, especially to Lorraine, Graham, Sarah and David, love from Kerry and Sergio Alderuccio and family

From when I was a small child, I remember you were always smiling and laughing and had a gentleness in your nature, which makes me smile to this day. God speed your journey.

Frank came to care for our garden, rain or shine, once a week for more than fifteen years. He loved the garden, as we do.
He was a source of wisdom and advice, about when and what to prune, how to handle recalcitrant pests, when to nourish the azaleas, roses and citrus. He especially understood our fruit trees.
He gave us a couple of saplings, eucalypts mainly, several years ago. Told us where to plant them and how to look after them. His advice proved to be absolutely right. They are flourishing in our bottom paddock.
Frank was always a gentleman and always thoughtful, kind and even-tempered. A truly lovely person.
Frank, we will miss you and remember you and thank you for caring for our garden.

During our time on this earth so many people come and go; some stay for all of our lives others for just a short time. Not often enough there comes along one very unique soul who shines the brightest light and brings so many blessings to all they meet. These special people have a way in which they welcome all they meet and especially those lucky enough to be part of their life and share in their joy. Frank was one of these very special souls.
He was always happy to give his gentleness, kindness and welcoming greetings to everyone he met. His always ready smile and laughter brought so much joy to everyone and will last long in all our memories. His unique gifts for each of us who were lucky enough to share and spent time with him, we will always feel those precious moments were made especially just for each of us.
Patricia what a privilege it has been knowing I was one of those fortunate enough to know such a wonderful soul as your beautiful Frank. I will treasure my memories and our friendship always.
Frank was a key part of my teenage years and I worked on his orchard during uni summer holidays. I remember him ripping me up for driving a tractor badly, and I have always respected him, and machinery, since. His ability to see a bright side and have a laugh has been commented on widely, but underneath he was a serious guy who took responsibility.
Frank and my father (John Laird) were key members and workers for the Toolamba West Pimary School parents committee and worked together on shcool workbees.
At a time like this I’m at at a loss of words to express my thoughts at the passing of such a gentleman.
Frank and Trish you were always two people we loved to have invading our garden. You tamed our wilderness with smiles and generosity.
Frank’s ability to grin even when his equipment was sometimes failing him, was a mark of his ability to persist and stay always the contented optimist.
Frank’s wonderful smile, his joy in living and giving will remain in my precious memories. He was a true gardener of people and plants, he brought out the best in both.
Memories of a wonderful man. Chris and I spent all our childhood years following in all the older kids footsteps. Daddy Doh, secretly kept us in line, for appearance sake, but then gave us so much more freedom that the others. I am sure he knew where we kept the packet of Park Drive cigarettes in the pipes out the back of the Willow Bank sorting shed and would remove them without telling a soul. Throwing us on Lady Gay (at the Laird Farm) and her bucking us off just as quick! The meowing cats! The Sunroom! I am sure there was a hole in that “10ft” fence we use to squeeze through. Rides in that Truck – the gear stick! Jumping on the Trampoline at the Haberfields and Frank coming to get us at dark for tea – we would race him down the dusty track home on our bikes. Hiding in the long cool grass around the apple trees watching all the ‘big kids’. Tatura East Primary school being flooded and Frank was there on the tractor helping the entire community. Everlasting smile and lifetime memories never to be forgotten in my lifetime.
